About Us

Who We Are

Hello! My name is Gloria and I am a wife, mother, and Oconee County native. I am a Montessori school teacher with over 17 years of experience working in the preschool environment. My husband, Justin, and I are blessed with two beautiful daughters, Caroline and Olivia, as well as a sweet Beagle mix, Pepper. We absolutely love our community in Watkinsville and are so proud to be a part of it!

Why We’re Here

We’ve known for quite some time that our community is in need of more places for children to just play. We also realize that the hustle and bustle of the modern day leaves little time for such a thing. Knowing this, we wanted to create an environment where children and their families can interact with each other in a place and time specifically set aside to make those core memories together! Our studio is specially crafted to foster imagination and learning through fun. We get excited seeing families love our space as much as we love creating it for them!

What Makes Us Different

The Meadow Montessori Play Studio is an indoor play center offering open play, birthday parties, and workshops for children toddler-aged through early elementary. Our mission is to offer an enriching play experience in a space that is designed to be both fun and comfortable for all children. To achieve this goal, we blend the principles of The Montessori Method with the Scandinavian approach to education and design.

The Montessori Method is known for its unique approach to education, emphasizing child-centered learning and development. Maria Montessori, the founder of the Montessori Method, believed that children learn best through active engagement with concrete materials, promoting sensory exploration and practical skills. The studio uses Montessori-based materials that are engaging and stimulating, encouraging learning through sensory engagement.

While The Meadow Montessori Play Studio is intended to be a fun and engaging space for all children, we consciously made it a welcoming environment for all children, including those with sensory processing challenges. To make this possible, the studio’s aesthetic is rooted in Scandinavian design, which uses a simplistic layout, muted color palettes, and sustainable materials. Research has shown that spaces which have fewer distractions and include the use of nature or natural materials help to improve children’s focus, boost mood and self-esteem, and have a comforting effect for children prone to sensory overload.
